Perfect Timing

In the middle of the day, without even thinking why, I stopped to replant a shrub, transplanting it from an area that restricted its growth to a new area where it can spread its roots and flourish.  Within a few hours, the skies poured out a Texas gusher, enhancing the opportunity for the plant's quick acclimation, support and nurturing in its new home.

Garden Gem:  Listen to your own intuition. What or who in your environment needs to be repositioned, uprooted, and transplanted to a new area for a fresh beginning and greater opportunity to grow and flourish?  Consider your employees:  are they growing stagnant in their areas of expertise?  How can they share their talents and gifts in new ways or new areas to benefit others and themselves?

Serendipity or Beshert?

In 2016, we made a commitment to our Authorized Partners who have been certified on programs within Jill Hickman Companies Signature Service Curriculum® to provide opportunities for learning and growing through co-facilitation opportunities with other partners within our Authorized Partner Network . Rather than hosting public workshops for individuals from a variety of organizations throughout the Houston area, we took another approach. We decided that providing a leadership development curriculum to a Houston area non-profit, charitable organization would be a great way to afford our partners the opportunity to work and learn together while at the same time, give back to our community. Does The Training Fit?

When implementing training programs, ensure that the programs you're considering are a fit. Consider these questions in your pre-training planning: Does the training address the  identified need?  Work with managers to determine the behavioral changes expected as a result of training. Conduct a needs analysis to determine the behavioral changes desired, the measures of success anticipated, and if/when/how expectations for these behaviors have been previously addressed with attendees. Does the training provide for skills practice  opportunities during and after the training?  Without time and opportunity for skills practice, training will create awareness only. For behavioral change, skills practice needs to occur during training with opportunities for application back on the job.
